THE Garden...

We spent all of Memorial Monday planting our garden. Ben has spent the last couple of weeks turning the empty lot behind us into a large garden (with permission of the lots owner). I like to tease Ben that we (meaning him) would be awfully sad if he suddenly finds a buyer for the lot!!

Our three garden boxes contain:2 kinds of peas, beets, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers and onions
Ben's "garden" contains: about 7 rows of corn, close to 300 potatoes (red & gold), 1 row of carrots, 3 different kinds of squash (2 zucchini and 1 spaghetti) and 3 different melons

We also have planted lettuce, basil, rosemary, raspberries, garlic and our grapes are showing signs of growth so we might end up with grapes this year. I'll be honest that I'm a little afraid that we bit off more than we can chew (so to speak) and we'll end up with an abundance of food (although our gardening skills have yet to be been proven). We might be leaving veggie basket on people's doorsteps in the middle of the night!!

Even Miss Maiya gave us a hand!!
